Happy Production Coordinator

Happy Worker is Hiring!

Hi, from Happy Worker! We design and manufacture toys and exclusive collectibles (aka playful masterpieces) for the worlds' best brands in video games and entertainment. We have been creating happy clients and quality toys, gifts and collectibles since 2003. It's all about happy clients, happy fans, and toy joy! To find out more, visit us at www.happyworker.com.

We’re looking for a full-time Happy Production Coordinator (aka “Happy Maker of Great Things”). This new teammate’s main mission is to coordinate all the little production details between our home base and our factories overseas; ensuring all of our toys are manufactured to be their absolute best so that the most hardcore fans are happy!

We’re looking for a very special kind of person; a cheerful team player who eagerly accepts any challenge! This role is for someone who is super organized, passionate, enjoys a fast-paced work environment, is an excellent communicator, and not only notices but can keep track of all the pesky little details.  They’re well suited to working with other perfectionists, value constructive criticism and are constantly striving to improve everything.  Ultimately they’re a born happy worker and self-starter with a professional-yet-fun attitude!

Your Mission

Happy Worker is a small entrepreneurial team with more to do than we have time for! The new teammate will lighten the crew’s workload and tackle under-supported areas so that Happy Worker can continue to spread happiness by bringing even more great toys to life!

  • Production Coordination: Research, create, edit and proof a plethora of production related documents that help us make the best toys possible. E.g. toy specs, safety requirements, product blueprints, production guides, checklists, schedules, etc. Keep an eye on all pieces of the production puzzle so that everything falls into place at the right time.
  • Communication: Clearly and concisely convey design and production goals through words, photos, and images. Manage projects through discussion and email with both our team and our overseas factory partners.
  • Shipping and Logistics Management: Arrange, coordinate, track and troubleshoot the transportation of precious cargo (toys!). Prepare customs documentation and import paperwork.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that our exceptionally high quality standards are maintained throughout all stages of prototyping, pre-production, and manufacturing; support all areas of QC, safety and compliance testing.
  • Happy Production Partners: Ensure that our partners and vendors are treated fairly, and that everyone is happily focused on making great toys with sustainable manufacturing practices.
  • Responsibilities: Note this is *not* a low impact role. The chosen candidate will have a large amount of responsibility and will lead numerous projects and initiatives. Please only apply if you thrive on responsibility and challenges!
  • Cheerful Customer Service: Help our client happiness team respond to toy making inquiries by understanding project goals, preparing toy making schedules and participating in phone calls.
  • Collaborative Team Member: Be a key part of a small, very busy, hard-working and energetic team. Our core team is in Toronto, with additional teammates and partners around the world.
  • **Important: Servicing our clients and partners well and keeping projects on-schedule often means some evening and weekend work. You must be able to work evenings during time-sensitive projects to help support teams in other time zones.

Bonus Level Missions

  • Web, Blog and Social Media: Help write exciting share-worthy articles, take photos, and post interesting content on our website, blog, and social media platforms.
  • General Office Odd Tasks: We are a small team that is growing; which means that everyone pitches in to ensure all the not-so-fun-but-oh-so-important miscellaneous things get done.
  • Constant Improving and Going Above and Beyond: Make everything that we do better!
  • Happiness: Bring fun and happiness to all that you do!

Must-Have Experience + Talents

  • Production/Manufacturing Familiarity: Some prior experience handling projects in a production-oriented environment; prior knowledge of production methods and materials.
  • Expert Problem Solver: Able to find solutions to difficult challenges, exhibiting good judgment and making the impossible happen.
  • Great with Numbers:  Knows how to calculate things like volume, imperial to metric conversions, and costs-per-unit. Can create and manage excel spreadsheets chock full of #'s and $'s. Enjoys both pi and pie, and knows which one works better à la mode.
  • Geek Culture, Gaming, Toys and Collectibles: Appreciation for geek culture; be it gaming, comics, toys, collectibles, cosplay, comic-cons and more.  Tell us what you’re passionate about!
  • Project Leadership Experience: Proven experience leading and managing projects; excited to be responsible for numerous projects and initiatives.
  • Clear Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; a detail-oriented writer who is able to simplify, focus and prioritize lengthy documents.
  • Good with Graphics and Visuals: Prior experience with Adobe Suite or another flavor of graphics software. Creating visuals and diagrams, and combining graphics with copy.
  • Detail-Driven Perfectionist: Great eye for fine details, backed up with an ability to remember lots o’ itty bitty features for dozens of projects without going cross-eyed; you ensure every “t” is crossed and “i” dotted.
  • Master Organizer: Great at setting and managing priorities, task lists and schedules.
  • Amateur Photographer: Enjoys taking photos and is comfortable tinkering with cameras and lighting.
  • Tech Savviness: If you decide to apply, mention in your cover letter which software you know and love.
  • Education: A post-secondary degree or diploma in something; always learning new things!
  • Well Rounded, Versatile Work Experience: If you decide to apply, we’d appreciate seeing a resume that lists all of your previous work experiences – not just the recent positions or the ones you feel relate most to this role.
  • Comfort in Fast-paced Environments: If you decide to apply, please take a moment in your cover letter to tell us about your busiest work experience.
  • Some of Your Favorite Things: Please tell us about your favorite toy and your favorite snack food.
