Who, Why & What?
Who Is SuperMom?
SuperMom's a hard working, modern mommy heroine. Check out her “Bio” for the full details.
Where Can I Find SuperMom?
You can find real-life SuperMoms almost everywhere... walking down the street, while shopping, or at the office... and yes even in your own home! In fact, you may be a SuperMom yourself :).
If you're looking for the mini plastic version, you can find a store and get your own SuperMom Action Figure at Where to Buy. Wishing you & your SuperMom lots of motherly fun and happiness!
Why SuperMom?
We created SuperMom as a light hearted look at hard working moms, and as a fun way to explore the challenges modern moms face. We thought it was about time moms were recognized with their own action figure (or doll, if you prefer!) and accepted it as our toy mission.
How did SuperMom come to life?
The short answer... a mini plastic super mommy was one of our first ideas when we started creating toys, and was born thanks to the talents and help from a bunch of moms and toy geeks. For a behind the scenes look at the creation and birth of SuperMom, please visit the Making of SuperMom.
Why was SuperMom your first female toy?
We're often asked why we waited until our 4th action figure to release our first female hero. When we started inventing toys, conventional industry wisdom at the time said that 80-90% of grownup action figures were bought by men. As starting our own toy company and creating original toys was difficult enough, we felt it was too risky to have SuperMom as one of our initial toys and postponed her for a bit. Based on the excellent response and feedback from our first toy (GeekMan) we started developing SuperMom's concept in the middle of 2004 and poured over hundreds of possible looks to help us brainstorm her character.
Is SuperMom based on a specific person?
Not exactly... we put the creative ideas and energy of a bunch of people into a blender, and turned it on high. While we drew upon our own families and experiences, we designed SuperMom to represent all the heroic mommies out there... so, she’s actually based on you!
Toy Questions
Baby Moods: How does the baby switch from happy to crabby?
All kids possess a curious ability to switch instantly from one emotional extreme to the other. One moment they’re laughing uncontrollably, the next they’re crying and wailing at the top of their lungs. And of course our 1.5” high plastic child is no different.
While the baby’s head is permanently attached we’ve conveniently created a head with two different faces, one on each side. To convert the baby from cheerful happy smiles to crying screaming tears and back again, just turn the baby’s head so the appropriate face & mood is at the front. To reduce exorcist freakouts or trainspotting flashbacks we’ve included a small yellow bonnet that handily fits over and covers the face not in use.
Mom Heads: How do I change mom from calm/happy to frazzled/crazy?
SuperMom’s mood is usually determined by her children’s, and can be changed as appropriate:
To remove a head: to change mom’s mood first hold her body in one hand and grasp her head in the other. Then, gently pull her head off (…this is one mom that really can lose her head…).
To put a new head on: the easy answer - just do the opposite of the above! The technical answer… each head has a ball underneath that attaches into SuperMom’s neck. Simply push the ball on the underside of the desired head into the top of her neck, and voila – your mom should have a new head on her shoulders.
Footwear: How can I change mom's shoes?
Like any fashionable modern mom, SuperMom carries a choice of footwear (sneakers and heels) to fit most mom and work related occasions. To change shoes gently pull down to remove each shoe, revealing some blue sticks protruding from her ankles. Then, slide the holes on top of the new shoes into her stick-like ankle extensions, and your mom will sport some new shoes. (No, this mom doesn’t wear army boots…)
Holding Accessories: How does she hold all her accessories?
SuperMom can hold all her mommy ‘weapons’ at the same time and look crazy busy… though she can only wear one pair of shoes and have one head at a time. Here’s a quick how-to…
Baby: can be held in mom’s arms, by folding one arm around the baby’s waist, in between the baby’s arms and legs. Of course, the baby can also crawl and fit all over SuperMom, from hiding behind mom’s legs, to handing off an arm or crawling on her head… use your imagination & have some fun!
Groceries: can be held under either arm, just push the grocery bag snugly into her body with her arm
Mommy Purse: strap goes over either shoulder, or carrying handle can fit in either hand
Cell Phone: can be held in either hand
Super Long To-do List: fits in either hand… in her left hand the list faces inward, in her right hand it faces outward
Hint: if SuperMom seems a bit unsteady when she’s holding her accessories, try turning her feet outwards to widen her balance or bend her knees a little so her accessories are more centered.
Jacket: What's with the messy splotch on the front of her jacket?
Sitting: Does she sit?
No, not really… like most busy moms SuperMom rarely sits - she’s always on the go between kid and work related escapades.
Ethnicities: What versions of SuperMom are available?
SuperMom is available in 3 different ethnicities - Caucasian, African American and Asian American. We hope to add more diverse cultural backgrounds in the future, please contact us with suggestions! While each cultural version has unique mom and baby paint detailing, all share the same packaging with Caucasian pictures. Not all versions of SuperMom are available at all stores, please contact the store before you drop by.
